Holidays and Ø 27 November 2008 This outing is the third part of our U3A Lectures
on Food and Nutrition held earlier this year. A visit to the Good Food Show
will whet your appetite and it will entertain and delight everyone. A live
cookery demonstration by the famous James Martin is a bonus and tickets have
been reserved for us. Cost £25 which includes entry , demonstration by
James Martin, coach and gratuity. Members from our neighbouring U3As are welcome to
join us. Pick up points will start in
Aylesbury and will include Princes Risborough, Thame and Chinnor. For full details click here Ø 9 December 2008 Christmas Evening
Meal. Following the success of last
year’s meal we are once again going to Ellesborough Golf Club. A traditional Christmas three course meal
will be served. The cost will be £21
including meal and gratuities. There will be no coach, we will use our own
transport and share where possible.
Contact Sheila for a booking form. Ø 2 – Short Break at Warner’s Classic Hotel, Thorseby in
Notts. This will be a 4-nights stay to include travel, half board and a day
trip to Lincoln. The cost will be £245 including half board. The
arrangement will include return coach from Chinnor, bed, breakfast and
evening meal and driver’s gratuity.
The Hotel organises activities every day so if the weather is not too
good you would be occupied. There is
swimming, short mat bowls, snooker, table tennis – perhaps for the sporty
ones ! You can also find a quiet
corner to enjoy reading a book and have a relaxing time. Part of the Hotel is the historic building
with its Grand Hall and Library and if you take a short walk outside you will
see what a splendid building it is.
There is a daily published programme of informal activities such as
quizzes, learning line dancing, talks, etc.
Every evening there is music for dancing followed by
entertainment. All rooms are of
excellent quality with tea making facilities. In the dining room there is a buffet or
you may prefer waiter service. Ø 10 – 16 May 2009 Holiday to Belgium
and Holland. Travel will be by ferry
and coach. Our base will be in
Antwerp. The holiday is planned to
visit towns and countryside that are perhaps less well known to us but
nevertheless very interesting with much to see and admire. Antwerp was the home of Peter Paul Rubens
and is also a diamond centre. There
will be excursions to Leuven and Mechelen in Belgium and Delft and Zuiriksee
in Holland. The price is not finalised but if you are interested in this
